Hello

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Fairmont Le Château Frontenac

Fairmont Le Château Frontenac

During our stay in Québec City, we had the luxury of staying at the iconic Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, snuggled in the heart of Old Québec. The Fairmont Le Château Frontenac is probably, I think one of the most photographed hotel in the world, due to its castle like build, historical character and impressive size.

Our room was situated on the 6th floor of the hotel and overlooked Québec City. The first thing I noticed about our European-style room was the stretch of windows providing us with unforgettable views of the old fortified architecture of Québec city (making it difficult to resist taking hundreds of pictures).

Luckily, we didn’t have to go scavenging for good breakfast spots since we had one right at our fingertips, The Place Dufferin. This lavish place is located just on the terrace level of the hotel, with an incomparable view of the St. Lawrence River.

A cute little fact about this hotel is the beehives on the roof! Nestled atop the Château’s roofs is a private garden of the executive Chef, home to four beehives, with over 70,000 bees! Why is this relevant information you’re probably asking me… well the hotel incorporates their honey in their cocktails and offers it to their guests at The Place Dufferin (Where we had breakfast).

Fuelling us before exploring and touring Québec City, was the Starbucks located on the Terrace level (Patrick’s favorite aspect of the hotel, may I add).

You can really get a sense of the history of this hotel and its site, which boasts over 400 years, from its showcased heritage elements and the meticulous positioning of historical artefacts. A little FYI, this hotel is where the first bottle of champagne was popped in Canada. Not to mention, The hotel charms some of the most famous movie and music celebrities. To name a few, Steven Spielberg, Leonardo DiCaprio and Angelina Jolie.

The lobby and public areas of the hotel are bursting with royal blues in inspiration of the Nordic living and colors of the sunlit St. Lawrence. The carpets of the hotel mimic water currents, while the ceilings shimmer a blue that sets off the original wood paneling. Literally every inch of this hotel is uniquely crafted by talented designers inspired by the St. Lawrence river.

This hotel is a must see if you are visiting Québec City. You will automatically have an appreciation for the relevant history of the building.  if you are not a guest don't hesitate to take a walk around the hotel, maybe stop and grab a honey infused cocktail at the 1608 bar. I promise you, this place won’t disappoint!
